Text Message Service
At The Downland Practice, we are developing new and more efficient ways of contacting our patients. Our teams are now able to send information, advice, and responses to individual queries via text message directly to your mobile phone. This is in addition to our current appointment reminder text message service.
What are the benefits?
- The GP can notify you quickly if there is any action required on your routine test results
- You can receive information, updates, or a reply to your clinical query directly from the GP
- We can notify you quickly if there are any changes to your appointments
- Reducing telephone queue waiting times
Can I text the doctor directly?
This text message service is currently one way and allows the practice to contact you. If you need to contact your GP, please use our website to ask the doctor a question.
How do I opt-in?
If you would like to take advantage of this free service, you do not need to do anything! All patients with active mobile numbers listed on their records will be automatically enrolled and notified by an initial text message. If you have not received a text message, it may mean we hold incorrect contact details on your medical records. Please use the change personal details page to update your records.
How do I opt-out?
If you have any queries regarding this service, or wish to opt-out completely, please ask the practice a question.
