Investigation requests from external providers

Tests done by others

If you have had a test carried out by a private provider or another service outside our practice, please contact the clinician who requested the test for interpretation and any further action. They are responsible for managing your care in relation to those results.

Sharing test results with us

We may consider results from other providers as part of your assessment if they are relevant. However, if the test is unfamiliar to us or not one we would usually recommend, we may ask you to seek advice from the clinician who originally arranged the test.

NHS guidelines on tests

NHS guidance advises against arranging unnecessary tests or repeating tests that have already been performed. For this reason, we are usually unable to repeat privately arranged investigations on the NHS. If the results are relevant, we may use them to inform your care, but you will need to provide the full results.

Do not send test results for interpretation

Please do not send test results to the practice for interpretation. If you need medical support or have concerns about your health, please contact the practice to arrange an appointment.
